You Are VO-Unique: How To Stand Out and Get Hired

I appreciate this great advise and thought I’d better share it. #voiceOver #VoiceTalent

Life on the Voiceover List

Want to begin or expand your career in Voice Overs? You will hear this question, I guarantee it:

“But there is so much competition. Why even bother?”

Yep. That nay-sayer (even if it’s your own inner thoughts) is quite correct. Sorry, but it’s true…..well, at least the first half of the sentence is.

How to Stand Out in the Voice Talent Crowd

Yes, there are quite a lot of people who want to “go into voiceovers”. Newbies constitute one category, especially the magical thinkers who think that all you have to do is make a demo and clear a corner of your kitchen table for a microphone, and the jobs will start rolling in (because they have “such a nice voice.”)  Yeah. Those folks are not the competition – at least not yet. Most of them give up after a few months because it turns out that magic actually requires…

Down & Dirty in Belize – Trash the Dress Wedding Photography

I love “dirty” love stories! #TrashTheDress

Belize Wedding Photography Blog

Trash the Dress in Belize - Wedding PhotographyThis year Conch Creative had some challenges with the weather.  In fact, all of Belize had some challenges with the weather.  It rained hard and long and everything got extremely wet and mucky.   So, we couldn’t have been more delighted when the bride and groom wanted to trash their dress in the most fun, playful and positively down and dirty manner possible.

Trash the Dress in Belize PhotographyIt all started so innocently, just a little pat on the bum for the bride.

Trash the Dress in Belize - Wedding PhotographyThe groom got pretty cheeky…

Conch Festival – Turks & Caicos 2013

Wow! What an honor and a privilege it was to be an invited guest and judge for the 10th annual Conch Festival in Blue Hills, TCI. November 30, 2013 –  the 10th Annual Turks & Caicos Conch Festival, held at Blue Hills, Providenciales, at the Three Queen’s Bar & Restaurant Delicious! There were so many variations of Conch…..Salads, Specialties, Chowder (Red and White). Thanks to the organizers, and especially Alge Dean for making this possible. In the end there was 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners in each category. Bay Bistro took home the big trophy for the day! Other winners included Hemingway’s, Hole in the Wall, and a new restaurant called Mr. Grouper. Congrats to all the winners!

Provo has the world’s only commercial conch farm and you can go on a tour and learn all you ever wanted to know about edible trumpets, like: all parts of a sea shell are edible. “Where in the world is that?” is a phrase commonly heard when we tell friends of our trips to the Turks and Caicos Islands.  The Turks & Caicos Islands consist of forty islands, including eight major islands and a number of uninhabited cays, pronounced “keys,” located 575 miles south of Miami and 39 miles southeast of the Bahamas chain of islands.  The islands are a British territory, where the U.S. dollar is the official currency.

Except the shell.

It wasn’t all about eating Conch at Conch Fest. There was a “Conch Knocking” contest where one had to show their skill at getting the Conch out of the shell (bore a hole with a hammer, and stick the thing with a knife so it crawls out). There was a “Conch Blowing” contest. You have to be long winded to win that one (US$1000 prize). The winner blew for 11 seconds! The biggest winner of the day/night was the person who took home the $10,000 “Pot of Gold” prize (only $10 for a raffle ticket). I’ll be sure to buy my ticket early next year. By the time I decided to enter the deadline passed to purchase. Oh well!

I Thank You For The Blessings You’ve Given To Me!

As millions of people across the globe sit down today with family and loved ones to give thanks for various blessings, I just want to take time out to say “Thank you Father for the blessings you’ve given to me!” I am truly grateful for having my Mom and Dad alive and well….both in their mid 70s. I am thankful for my home and my business. I am truly thankful for real friends, may it be only one or two, but they are the ones that count…that always have your back in real times of need. Thanks for my puppies…for their unconditional love. I am thankful for living in a place where the sun shines most of the year, and we don’t have bitter winters or unbearable heat for that matter.  Thank you for my many brothers and sisters, nieces and nephews (and now grand nieces and grand nephews).  Most of all, I am thankful for my health, strength, wisdom and beauty.

Sitting is Killing You

As we enter the second decade of the 21st century, there is one thing nearly all modern Americans have in common: we sit all the time. Though our great shift towards computer-based work has done great things for productivity, it has, unfortunately, done terrible things for our health. Simply put: sitting is killing you. From increased risk of heart disease and obesity in the long-term, to sharply hampered cholesterol maintenance in the short-term, the negative health effects of sitting are starting to weigh heavily against the benefits. Even the medical field – the greatest advocates of reducing sitting time – is plagued by this new health issue.

Bad Voice + Good Microphone = Great Voiceover

Here’s a DIY voice over studio. We all love it when our voice over recording comes out flawless. This is a great way to cut down on surrounding noises if you don’t have a soundproof room.

I Give Thanks Each And Every Day!

You Can’t just choose one day out of the year to give thanks! Give thanks each and every day. The sunrise is a precious gift so take the time to stop and marvel at it. Breathe in that air and know there is no way you can do without it. How fortunate we are to be able to witness such miracles.

Happy #ThanksGivingDay

Hot Number!

ImageSo, the holidays are upon us and boy do we have parties to attend! I love this dress! I need a super-classy event to go so I can show off this sexy full-length lace gown. I may have to hit the gym a few extra times to make sure those abs are in shape, and my arms aren’t floppy!

Happy Holidays everyone!
